Hamilton County goes Hollywood; Hahne gets Hometown Triumph at Webster City

The West Series made its big return to the “Historic Half-Mile” in Webster City, Iowa as part of a tripleheader weekend through the state of Iowa. A field of 25 cars made their way down the hill to the infield pit area for a night of racing at the 2026 Hamilton County Fair.

Jason Hahne found himself in a familiar spot being the Keyser Manufacturing Top Qualifier on the night. He topped the first group of cars with a blistering 18.105 second lap around the big half-mile oval. The second group was led by Chad Simpson who clocked in at 18.211 seconds. Finally, the third group saw East Series Points Leader, Blair Nothdurft, set the fastest lap time of 18.332 seconds.

The three heat races on the night were won by Corey Zeitner, Tim Ward and Blair Nothdurft. Nothdurft’s performance was enough to give him the most points after heats giving him first chance at the Skyline Materials Lucky 6th Place Starter Bonus. The Renner, South Dakota native took on the challenge and chose to start sixth for a shot to add $1,750 in bonus money should he win the Malvern Bank Main Event.

JC Wyman dominated to win the Predator Custom Trailers B Feature with Cody Thompson, Bill Leighton Jr. and Kale Kosiski also transferring to the main event. With two provisionals decided, 22 cars took to the speedway for the 30-lap feature.

Corey Zeitner started on pole position of the feature and jumped to the race lead early, but he was quickly forced into a 3-wide battle for the top spot with Charlie McKenna and Jason Hahne. Hahne rolled the low side of the speedway and managed to lead the opening lap before Zeitner went back to the point. Zeitner proceeded to extend his lead over Hahne while Blair Nothdurft and Charlie McKenna battle for third while Tad Pospisil, Jesse Sobbing and Jake Neal all exchanged positions at the back of the top five.

As the leaders encountered lapped traffic, Hahne and Nothdurft kept the pressure on Zeitner for the race lead. The advantage for Zeitner fluctuated from over 2 seconds to around half a second.

The first caution of the race came out with only nine laps remaining when Derrick Stewart came to stop on the exit of turn 2. On the ensuing restart, Hahne managed to get back around Zeitner for the lead and got to the start/finish line to complete the lap shortly before the second and final caution of the race came out for a spin in turn 1.

Hahne hit his marks on the takeoff for the restart, and despite Nothdurft making a charge late to get around Zeitner for second place, he could not catch Hahne. Jason Hahne would go on to score the biggest win of his SLMR Series career picking up his first win with the tour in front of his home crowd. Hahne became the eighth winner with the SLMR Series in 2026, and it was his fifth career series victory.

Blair Nothdurft took second while Corey Zeitner recorded his best finish of the year with a third-place run after leading 21 of 30 laps. Jake Neal came in fourth with Jesse Sobbing rounding out the top five.

With Hamilton County Speedway in the record books, The West and East Series will come together once again to take on the high-banked Marshalltown Speedway in Marshalltown, Iowa for the 9th annual Dale DeFrance Memorial. Following that race will be the East Series’ rescheduled visit to the Decorah, Iowa’s Winneshiek Raceway for the 2nd annual King of the Bullring.
